Whortleberry Chutney

This chutney is a delightful blend of whortleberries, onion, apple, and a carefully selected mix of spices, creating a rich and well-balanced flavour. The natural tartness of whortleberries, known as wild blueberries in Devon, pairs beautifully with the sweetness of apples and the depth of slow-cooked onions. Perfect with crackers and cheese, it also shines in more traditional chutney pairings.

Beyond cheese, this chutney is a fantastic match for game meats, particularly our venison haunch joint. The tangy fruitiness of the whortleberries enhances the deep, earthy flavours of the meat, adding a subtle sweetness. Whether spread over a roast or served alongside sliced cold meat the following day, it’s a wonderfully versatile addition to your pantry.
