Our pasture raised streaky bacon is a wonderful treat and will make a bacon sandwich fit for royalty. This bacon is also perfect for cooking in the oven due to its fatty nature. As pigs are naturally fatty animals, and traditionally were grown to be able to put on fat easily, this ends up with many of our cuts, paticularly the streaky bacon having a high fat level. Coupled with this, the pigs are allowed to grow slowly and with access to a natural pastured diet.
It can be challenging to find English bacon in the UK, let alone free range English bacon. This is due to it being so cheap to mass produce pigs in factory farms from other countries, so we are glad to offer bacon that is extremely high quality and fits our high welfare standards, the flavour is stronger and far more tasty.
Streaky Bacon is cut from the belly joint, compared to back bacon which is cut from the loin joint. The belly is fattier than the loin, so streaky bacon will be the most fat of anything. If you are looking for bacon to use in the oven, streaky bacon is the best. The extra fat it has on stops it drying out, and this bacon is ideal for wrapping around sausages or even joints of meat for an extra salty flavoursome kick.
