Our venison mince is made from wild venison sourced from Robert Hawker. It offers a lean, protein-rich alternative to traditional minced meats. With a deep, gamey flavour, it works beautifully in a variety of dishes, from classic Shepherd’s pie and burgers to rich pasta sauces and meatballs. We particularly enjoy it with our mushroom tagliatelle pasta.
Because venison is naturally lower in fat than beef, pork, or lamb, it requires a slightly different approach when cooking. Adding a little oil or butter when frying prevents it from drying out, and cooking it low and slow in sauces or stews helps bring out its full flavour. In a Shepherd’s pie, venison mince creates a richer, more robust dish with a slightly sweeter, earthier taste compared to beef, pairing perfectly with root vegetables and buttery mash.
As with all minced meats, venison mince must be cooked thoroughly to ensure food safety. If making burgers, ensure they are cooked all the way through. The lean, gamey flavour and high protein content make it a great option for those looking for a nutrient-dense alternative to beef, with less cholesterol and fewer calories. Ideal for hearty, flavour-packed meals, venison mince brings something special to the table.
