A grass fed sirloin steak is one of our most prime steaks and very popular too. Cut from a muscle that doesn't work too hard, it ends up moderately tender, but with a great flavour due to the good level of marbling throughout the meat. A nice fatty cap surrounds the outside which can be used to rest the steak on during/after cooking.
Grass fed Sirloin steaks can be healthier for you than grain fed steaks as the higher grass content in the cows diet produces much more Omega 3 levels in the meat. Omega 3 is important for both routine brain and heart function, so it can be really beneficial. You will notice the higher grass content in the diet by the colour of the fat, which in 100% grass fed cattle will be more yellow than grain fed ones, this is particularly noticeable in the summer months when the grass is fresh.
When choosing between a ribeye or a sirloin, a ribeye will offer a consistently tender finish, it may also be a better option as it has the most marbling which makes for a tasteful and tender result. The sirloin, although it does have a slightly more firm texture, the defined fat cap holds some great flavours for the steak to cook in.
Best served with some light seasoning and some peppercorn sauce, the grass fed sirloin steak is truly a classic and probably the best way to try some of the beef we offer.
