A 100% grass fed rump steak is a lean steak that has a strong flavour. As the rump steak is from the upper rear end of the cow, an area that works harder than almost any other, it won’t be as tender as a Ribeye or Sirloin steak, this means that it is a great steak to enjoy rare, because this will help maintain the highest level of tenderness possible. However it will have a stronger flavour than the Sirloin or Ribeye, so if you like it strong, then this is the best option for you. At Ruxstons we have found that the rump steak is our favourite beef steak to cook in an air fryer, a short cooking period of 7/8 minutes will see the rump steak cooked rare.
One thing to note is with our farmers only feeding the cattle what they find on the pasture, is that the final beef taste will have a stronger more “gamey” flavour. The layer of fat around the outside will add further flavour whilst cooking and can be used to rest the steak in the pan before serving rather than resting it on the plate.

This beef is hung for 21 days to develop flavour, butchered, then vacuum packed and frozen, perfectly preserving the best taste and quality at its most fresh. Freezing also eliminates any food waste.
