Chocolate tahini is a rich, nutty spread made by blending sesame seeds, which is what tahini is, ground toasted sesame, with cocoa and a touch of sweetness. On its own, tahini has a savoury, slightly bitter edge, but the addition of chocolate softens it beautifully and brings out a deeper, more indulgent flavour.
Surprisingly, it goes beautifully with meat, especially lamb or beef. Try brushing a little over a roasted lamb leg towards the end of cooking, or spooning it onto the plate as a sauce. The balance of sweet, savoury, and nutty works incredibly well with rich, charred flavours. It’s not your typical condiment, but that’s what makes it special.
